New Jersey father killed while trying to protect his 8-year-old son from sneaker thieves

(Last Updated On: November 22, 2017)

A loving Jersey City, New Jersey, 30-year-old father by the name of, Jose “Migue” Malave, spent his regular afternoons during his usual thing of taking care of his family of 11 children and his girlfriend.

While taking one of the children home from school, an eight-year-old son, little did Malave know that his child was being targeted by a group of older teenagers trying to steal his shoes.  The group of teens tried stealing the child’s shoes earlier that day, but was not successful in doing it.  So they figured they try again, but this time target the child’s home with hopes of finding additional things of greater value.

But instead, the teens ended up murdering Malave in front of four of his kids and his girlfriend.  The family had only been residents of their new apartment home for two months.  The two teenagers have been officially charged with the murder, a 19-year-old by the name of, Nasir Day, and a 17-year-old that has not been identified.  Both teenagers have been charged with: murder, felony murder, armed burglary, weapons offenses, and conspiracy.

A GoFundMe page has been established by Malave’s family to help pay for his cremation services and can be found at: https://www.gofundme.com/migue if you would like to make a monetary donation.
