MARTA rolls out new accordion buses

On Monday morning MARTA will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at Five Points to introduce their line of buses… the accordion buses.

The new “Articulated Buses” are powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and cost $845,000 a piece.  A total of 18, MARTA will be using the buses on routes that has the highest levels of ridership such as: #39 Buford Hwy, #196 Church/Upper Riverdale/Mt.Zion and the Braves game shuttles.  The buses ae able to seat 53 passengers, enough space to accommodate 40-50 standing passengers and all buses are equipped with wifi for light web and email.

The ribbon ceremony will take place at Five Points on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10 am.  Expected guest are: The Honorable Ceasar Mitchell, J. D., President, Atlanta City Council; Roderick E. Edmond, M.D., J.D., MARTA Board member;  Keith T. Parker, AICP, MARTA General Manager/Chief Executive Officer; and Rich Krisak, MARTA Chief Operating Officer.
